Team Composition:<\/strong> 14 player minimum, with a minimum 6 male-matching and 6 female-matching players

\nFormat:<\/strong> Wager Ranking System
\nWhen:<\/strong> Games run on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from July 14th until August 27th. Game times are 5:30pm \u2013 6:45pm and 7:15pm \u2013 8:30pm. Each team gets one game per week. Different from previous years, the two halves of the league will not have dedicated game nights. We are trialing this system to see if it makes it easier for teams to find subs, if all of the teams in their half of the league are not playing on the same night.
\nFields:<\/strong> Games will be played at Bowring Park, Kitty Gaul, and Southlands.
\nPlayoffs:<\/strong> Sadly, we can’t have a Playoff Day, so each team will get one playoff game, on either August 25th or 27th
\nCost:<\/strong> Roughly $200\/team (might vary depending on number of teams), all players must pay for their own Ultimate NL membership<\/a> ($30 value valid until May 2021) before July 10th
\nJerseys:<\/strong> Not included
\nSubbing:<\/strong> For this league, only subs that have signed the applicable waivers and paid for their Ultimate NL membership will be allowed
\nRegistration Schedule:<\/strong> Registration will be similar to the indoor BIY leagues, due to tight timelines to get the league up and running. Captains will register their teams. Solo players can use the Matchmaking Form<\/a> or Subbing Page<\/a> to look for a team
\n – Captains fill out Expression of Interest Form<\/a> from July 1st-5th
\n – Captains register and pay on the MZU website from July 6th-10th
\n – There is a mandatory virtual Captain’s Meeting set tentatively for Thursday July 9th at 7pm
\n – League play starts on July 14th<\/p>\n

COVID-19 Return to Play Guidelines<\/strong><\/p>\n

The provincial government, Sport NL, and Ultimate NL all worked together to create guidelines for sports to return to play in Alert Level 2. Here are the guidelines that apply to Ultimate:

\nPlease review these documents, as all players will be required to sign a release of liability and declaration of compliance, stating that they’re read and understand these documents. <\/p>\n

Here is a note on some of the guidelines that apply specifically to our league.<\/p>\n

Player’s Responsibilities<\/strong>
\n1. Sign applicable waivers and pay for your Ultimate NL membership.
\n2. Do not come to a game if feeling sick or unwell, and fill out the province\u2019s online self assessment before each game.
\n3. Only carpool with players from your own bubble.
\n4. Arrive at the field no earlier than 15 minutes before your game.
\n5. Practice physical distancing (2m) on the sidelines at all time.
\n6. Bring your own hand sanitizer to sanitize your hands before games.
\n7. If you bring a disc, use the cleaner provided in the captain\u2019s bag to clean your disc before use.
\n8. Refrain from touching your face.
\n9. High fives, handshakes, team huddles, spitting\/nasal clearing and spirit circles are not permitted.
\n10. Do not share food, water, athletic aids (foam rollers), etc.
\n11. No socializing\/loitering at the field after your game. <\/p>\n

Captain’s Responsibilities<\/strong>
\n1. Only pick up subs that have signed the applicable waivers, and that have paid for their Ultimate NL membership.
\n2. Ensure that only the co-captains handle the captain\u2019s bags and related equipment (cones, scoreboard etc). If there are painted lines at a field, do not set up cones.
\n3. Clean any used equipment (cones\/scoreboards) after the game (cleaning supplies will be provided in the captain\u2019s bag)
\n4. Record your team\u2019s attendance at the game to assist with contact tracing if needed (more details to come on this).<\/p>\n

Game Modifications<\/strong>
\nUltimate was listed as a \u201cmoderate potential and brief contact sport\u201d under Alert Level 2. This means that we\u2019re allowed to return to game play, with a couple differences. By signing up for a league, you are agreeing to a certain level of risk. Although physical distancing of 2m is recommended at all times, we realize that at points, a player might enter another player\u2019s \u201cbubble.\u201d Here\u2019s some things that we\u2019re changing\/recommending to address this:
\n– The \u201cdisc space\u201d rule will be changed so that the player marking the person with the disc cannot be within 2m of that player. If you have the disc, call \u201cdisc space\u201d if your defender comes within 2m.
\n– Players and spectators must maintain physical distancing on the sidelines at all times.
\n– On defense, try to mark the same player throughout the game. Ten contacts with one other player is better than 1 contact with 10 different players.
\n– Instead of the defensive player tapping the disc when ready, the offensive player can ask if they\u2019re ready, then tap the ground with the disc to begin.
\n– Sanitize the disc as much as possible.
\n– This list might be updated before games begin, but we\u2019ll keep you posted!<\/p>\n
